Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Jacob (Dan Fogler) are back to help Dumbledore on his dangerous mission, and Ezra Miller (Credence / Aurelius Dumbledore), Calum Turner (Theseus), and Jessica Williams (Lally Hicks) are also playing.
David Yates, who has directed the previous two films, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “Crimes of Grindelwald”, was in the director’s chair this time as well. The screenplay is written by Joanna K. Rowling and Steve Clowes.
Johnny Depp, who played Grindelwald in the first two films, announced that he was leaving the project in November 2020. During that period, he lost a case against the tabloid “The Sun” after suing him for a text alleging that he abused his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Mads Mikkelsen, who came in his place, stated that he did not intend to copy his predecessor.
Many wrote a hashtag in comments on Instagram calling for a boycott of the Warner Bros. publishing house.
“Bring back Johnny Depp”, “I love this franchise, but it’s not worth watching without Depp”, “What you did to Depp is unforgivable!”, “Johnny is the one and only real Grindelwald”, are just some of the comments on this social network.
There were also more people on Twitter who think that no one can replace Depp, although there were posts in which it is emphasized that Mickelsen should be given a chance.
Last year, Warner Bros. asked Depp to resign in the role of Grindelwald, and he agreed to that request.
