Ferrari presented the luxurious Amalfi Spider with a V8 engine and 640 hp

In Maranello this week, Ferrari officially presented the Amalfi Spider, a new 2+ convertible with a front-center, twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This model represents a vision of modern sportiness and versatility, is the spiritual successor of the Roma Spider model, targeting drivers who are looking for a dynamic driving experience without compromising on comfort or style, says the Italian company. With an emphasis on a “performance-driven” lifestyle, the car offers a balance between elegance and everyday usability, even in open-top configuration.

Biturbo V8 and open roof

The heart of the new model is the multi-award-winning V8 engine with a power of 640 hp, which provides instant response in all driving conditions. In order to ensure maximum control, the vehicle is equipped with a “brake-by-wire” system and ABS Evo technology, which optimizes stability and braking efficiency on different surfaces. Aerodynamic efficiency is further enhanced by an active three-position rear wing and an integrated wind deflector in the roof-down configuration.

A special design focus was placed on the fabric soft top that opens in just 13.5 seconds, which works at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The roof is made of a five-layer material that offers heat and sound insulation comparable to hard folding roofs, and is available in four colors and two fabric variants. Thanks to the compact packaging, which is only 220 mm thick when folded, the luggage space remains extremely generous for this class, with a capacity of 255 litres.

The exterior design follows a minimalist approach with fluid surfaces and a long, sculptural bonnet. The front part is dominated by a large air intake, while the sporty aesthetic is rounded off by forged light alloy wheels and carbon fiber details. Despite the option of driving without a roof, the proportions and elegant silhouette of the basic Amalfi model have been retained, with the added possibility of personalization through contrasting stitching on the roof.

Intuitive interior

The interior of the car is characterized by a “dual-cockpit” arrangement that separates the spaces for the driver and passenger. The steering wheel is equipped with physical buttons, and the iconic Ferrari engine start button has been returned. An integrated wind deflector located in the backrest of the rear bench, which is activated by pressing a button and significantly reduces turbulence in the cabin, takes care of comfort when driving with the roof open.

The 2+ configuration further increases the practicality of the vehicle, so the rear seats are suitable for transporting children or as additional space for luggage. With an integrated center display and controls designed for natural interaction, the Amalfi Spider offers a technologically advanced environment suited to both light weekend trips and more demanding, dynamic driving.

Despite the 86 kg heavier weight, the Spider variant offers acceleration to 100 km/h in the same 3.3 seconds as in the case of Amalfi’s coupé version, and the top speed is declared as high as 320 km/h.
