Fiat Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback on the hunt for the Dacia Bigster

After the Fiat Grande Panda model, as well as the Citroën C3 or Opel Frontera, Stellantis used the so-called Smart Car platform for another model. Thus, in the second half of the year, two completely new Fiat models will arrive – Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback. These are cars slightly shorter than 4.5 meters, which makes them compact SUVs. Regardless, Fiat claims that the interior space and trunk capacity surpass the direct competition in the class. Detailed technical data have not been published for now.

The difference between the two models is primarily stylistic. The Grizzly is a classic tall SUV with a flat roof and roof racks, while the Grizzly Fastback gets a rounded, lowered roofline towards the rear. This model does not have roof racks, and the rear is distinguished by full-width LED lights and a discreet spoiler. Of course, official information says that these are two models with different characters, although they share almost all body elements. The design of the front part of the vehicle follows on from the Grande Panda, while modern light signatures are located at both ends of the car.

The interior is not shown for now. Regardless, if we know how they share a common platform with the Grande Panda, it can be assumed that the passenger cabin will share a number of solutions with that model. Likewise, there aren’t any concrete figures related to powertrains. It has only been revealed that gasoline, mild-hybrid and fully electric powertrains are planned. Of course, we would not be surprised if the powertrain will be the same as on the Grande Panda model.

Allegedly, the goal of Fiat, or Stellantis, with the new model is to upset the accounts of Renault, or Dacia, and the Bigster model, which in a short time became one of the best sellers in its segment in Europe. The ratio of spaciousness and favorable price suited the customers well. With the Grizzly, Fiat wants to offer something similar, or something more if we take into account the wider range of drives. According to some, it is expected that the Grizzly could also attract former buyers of the Tipo model, which did not receive any successor. The premiere could be during the fall at the Paris Motor Show, after which sales would begin. The Grizzly family will be represented in Europe and the Middle East and Africa.
