Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg has once again pushed the boundaries of the automotive industry and set new world records in acceleration. On Sweden’s National Day, June 6, the company returned to its home turf in Ängelholm with the Jesko Absolut model, a vehicle named after the father of the company’s founder, Jesku von Koenigseggu.
The company’s test driver was behind the wheel of the car Markus Lundhwhose ride was recorded in the official video – you can watch it inside this news. During testing, Lundh officially secured this model the title of the fastest production car in the world in the disciplines of quarter-mile (about 402 meters) and half-mile (about 805 meters) races.
Breaking down historical borders
In the quarter-mile event, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut clocked an impressive 8.54 seconds and “flew” across the finish line at a speed of 305 km/h. With this result, a new page of history was written, considering that no production car before this test had managed to exceed the speed of 300 km/h on the specified distance. The car continued to accelerate in the half-mile section, where it recorded a time of 12.76 seconds with a top speed of 373 km/h.

These numbers put the Swedish model directly ahead of some of the strongest serial competitors on the market, including the Rimac Nevera, which has so far held the status of ruler in flat (“drag”) track acceleration – and it’s not even their first time. What makes these results technically even more impressive is the fact that they were achieved with rear-wheel drive, on an unprepared airstrip and using standard stock tires, without any modifications to the surface or special mechanical interventions. By the way, the Rimac Nevera R is still the quarter mile record holder with a time of 7.90 seconds, but it is not considered a production model like the “regular” Nevera and Jesko Absolut.
Upgrade for owners
According to official information from Koenigsegg, the key factor in achieving the record lies in the latest software optimizations of the system. Instead of keeping these technological innovations exclusively for test prototypes, the manufacturer announced that the implemented software improvements will become available to all existing owners of the Jesko Absolut model.
The software modifications that enabled the historic result will be delivered to end users via an over-the-air upgrade. Thus, the owners of this exclusive hypercar will be able to download advanced system settings and increase the performance of their vehicles from home, without the need to visit service centers or resort to mechanical modifications.
