Mazda continues its cooperation with Changan with the CX-6e model

Only a few months have passed since we had the opportunity to drive the new Mazda 6e on domestic roads. Now this Japanese manufacturer announces that we can soon expect another fully electric model from their kitchen. Admittedly, not entirely from their own, because they once again decided to cooperate with a trusted Chinese manufacturer. Thus, the Chinese car manufacturer Changan was responsible for the development of the new SUV model.

The collaboration means the Mazda CX-6e uses Changan’s EPA1 platform for electric vehicles, the same one used for the Changan Deepal S07 model. Mazda used Changan’s battery technology and smart cabin systems, while Mazda was in charge of styling and driving dynamics adapted to the European market. The new model will be produced in China, as part of a joint venture called Changan Mazda. For the domestic, Chinese market, the CX-6e’s counterpart is the Mazda EZ-60.

Premiered at the Brussels Motor Show, the all-new Mazda CX-6e redefines electric driving with a bold blend of design, performance and advanced technology. It is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 78 kWh. Thus, this mid-range SUV delivers 190 kW (258 hp) and 290 Nm of instant torque to the rear wheels. According to official information, it is a model that has a declared range of up to 484 km according to the WLTP. Of course, in addition to the AC charger, there is also the possibility of fast DC charging, which makes the CX-6e capable of long journeys.

For now, only one battery and an electric motor

The new CX-6e brings Mazda’s signature Jinba Ittai driving experience with electric confidence. It uses a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 78 kWh, which powers a rear electric motor that develops 190 kW (258 hp) and 290 Nm of instantly available torque. From a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h, the Mazda CX-6e takes 7.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km/h. The maximum DC charging power of 195 kW enables charging from 10% to 80% in a very good 24 minutes. The built-in charger supports three-phase AC charging with a power of 11 kW via Type 2 connections, for practical charging at home. A completely empty battery can be charged in 8.5 hours via the AC charger.
