Samsung rolls out One UI update for Tizen TVs

Samsung has begun a wider rollout of the One UI Tizen update for TVs based on the Tizen 9 platform from 2023, including models such as the QN90C Neo QLED. The new edition brings visual changes that bring the TV interface closer to the appearance of the One UI system on mobile devices.

The biggest change refers to the complete visual identity of the system. Fonts, icons, menus and pop-ups have been redesigned to look more modern and consistent within the Samsung ecosystem. The result is a neater and more contemporary display, especially for users who already use Galaxy phones and are used to the One UI style.

However, this approach also brings a concrete problem in practice. Almost all interface elements are visibly reduced and smaller compared to previous versions, which can make reading difficult, especially on smaller TVs or when the device is viewed from a greater distance. In such conditions, certain menu options and text become more difficult to see, which directly affects the usability of the system.

Samsung anticipated this situation and offered a simple solution through accessibility settings. In the menu Settings > All settings > General & Privacy > Accessibility it is possible to activate the option Zoom Menu and Text. This feature enlarges most of the interface elements and makes it easier to read content from a distance.

However, the implementation of this solution is only basic. Only two display sizes are available to the user, without the possibility of fine-tuning between multiple scaling levels. Despite this, in most cases, the option successfully solves the problem of readability and enables more comfortable use of the TV.

The distribution of updates is currently uneven. The same TV models do not receive the upgrade simultaneously in all regions, or even within the same country. Therefore, users are left to periodically check the availability of updates manually through the option Settings > All settings > Support > Software update > Update now.

For new TV models from 2026, Samsung is already preparing an improved version of the One UI Tizen system with additional functions based on artificial intelligence. This indicates that the company is planning further development of the platform, but the current version clearly shows that the balance between design and functionality is still not fully aligned, reports Sammobile.
