The City of Zagreb is acquiring 20 long low-floor trams

The city of Zagreb plans to finance the purchase of 20 new long low-floor trams with an estimated value of 75 million euros from the city budget, with the aim of increasing capacity and continuing the modernization of public transport.

“At the beginning of May, 24 new trams were running on the streets of Zagreb, and another 16 are on the way. In addition to these 40 short ones, we are now starting the procurement of 20 new long low-floor trams. I would also like to remind you that we will receive 62 new electric buses this year,” he announced. Tomislav Tomasevicthe mayor of the City of Zagreb.

Namely, the new trams will have a larger capacity compared to the existing TMK 2400 models. The expected length of the vehicles will be between 28 and 35 meters, with a width of 2.2 to 2.3 meters, and each will be able to transport at least 180 passengers. Because these are low-floor trams, they will be more accessible for people with reduced mobility, senior citizens and parents with children.

According to the plan, the procurement contract will last 36 months, while the deadline for the delivery of the first tram is a maximum of 24 months from the signing of the contract.
