The eighties 2022 Ford Sierra RS500 is back

The three new Ford Sierra RS500 Group A race cars will be manufactured to the precise specifications used by Andy Rouse when he dominated the British Touring Car Championship in the 1980s.

Four-time BTCC champion Rouse has approved the production of three cars, which will be done by CNC Motorsport AWS from Cotswold. The cars will be made from the original bodies of Ford’s Sierra model, and will feature Andy

Rouse Engineering’s construction panels. Also, the design will be identical to the original cars, and the construction will meet all BTCC Group A rules. That is why cars will be able to participate in historical racing competitions.

2022 Ford Sierra RS500 Release date

The first car will be completed in 2022, and its base will be a completely new body that has not been used before and which has been stored since the 1980s.

2022 Ford Sierra RS500 Specs

Automobile will be powered by a new Cosworth YB engine that develops 575hp and is paired with a five-speed Getrag transmission. 

Rouse has four championship titles and 60 race victories, but he is also a great engineer. He founded Andy Rouse Engineering in 1981 and won three BTTC titles from 1983 to 1985. He used a different car every year, and in 1985 he played a key role in making Sierra Cosworth dominant in the Class A. That season he won nine of 12 races.

CNC Motorsport AWS is the company of restoration expert and former Rouse worker Alan Strachan.

The base price will be $254,000, and various options will be available, including spare parts and external appearance.
