The police do not only confiscate cars, but also electric vehicles

We recently published an article on these pages about a series of traffic violations, which cost a Zagreb man his car. After driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license, the 36-year-old was fined 5,000 euros and the car was confiscated. This time, a similar story, but with somewhat less serious consequences, is repeated in the case of minors and electric scooters.

Namely, this Tuesday, March 31, around 7:30 p.m., in Ulica Antuna Gustava Matoša in Kutina, police officers stopped a minor who was driving an electric scooter on the road and was not wearing a protective helmet. Uočili su taj prekršaj, zaustavili ga, a potom pronašli još nešto – njegov se romobil zbog tehničkih karakteristika ne može smatrati osobnim prijevoznim sredstvom, niti je razvrstan u bilo koju kategoriju vozila.

Technical foul

It is obvious that it was a too powerful and/or too fast romobile, which does not meet legal regulations. Because of this, it was temporarily confiscated from the minor, and an indictment will be issued against the offender. Since he is a minor, the Croatian Institute for Social Work has been informed about everything, so his parents or guardians could have additional problems. The court will decide on the possible permanent confiscation of the mobile phone and the final penalty.

On this occasion, the PU of Sisak-Moslavina reminded the public that not all electric scooters can participate in traffic on Croatian roads. Parents, as well as everyone else who buys scooters, should take this into account – scooters that are too strong and too fast are prohibited, and in case of driving such a means of transport, citizens are threatened with a fine.
