Volkswagen has held the world premiere of the ID.3 Neo, the successor to the popular ID.3, which brings significant improvements in design, technology and material quality – correcting everything that owners of the first version did not like.
Returning to the roots through redesign
The exterior appearance of the vehicle is defined by the new “Pure Positive” design language, which is characterized by a refined front part with a continuous light strip across the entire hood and an illuminated brand logo. Bodywork details such as the roof and rear spoiler are now painted in the color of the vehicle, which gives the car a visually longer and more dynamic silhouette.
However, the bigger changes are happening in the cabin. The interior of the vehicle has undergone a complete transformation, now with an emphasis on premium materials and intuitive control. The cockpit is dominated by the new Innovision infotainment system with a central screen diagonal of 32.8 centimeters, while the multifunction steering wheel has been redesigned with more clearly structured button fields. The entire interior is aligned with the “True Volkswagen” philosophy, focusing on ergonomics and passenger comfort through higher-quality surface finishes, but also the return of physical buttons and with less reliance on touchscreen screen.

Greater efficiency and reach
The drive system of the ID.3 Neo has been completely redeveloped, offering greater torque with reduced energy consumption. Customers will have three different sizes of batteries available – with a net capacity of 50 kWh, 58 kWh and 79 kWh. The largest battery enables the vehicle to reach up to 630 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The engine power range ranges from 125 kW (170 hp) to 170 kW (231 hp), depending on the selected equipment line: Trend, Life or Style.

Battery charging is also optimized for faster travel. Versions with 50 and 58 kWh batteries support DC fast charging up to 105 kW, while the 79 kWh variant reaches a charging capacity of up to 183 kW. One of the key innovations is the “vehicle-to-load” function, which enables external devices such as electric grills or bicycles to be powered directly from the car’s high-voltage battery, with a power of up to 3.6 kW.
Advanced software solutions
The ID.3 Neo is equipped with the latest generation of software that includes advanced driver assistance systems. In addition to standard functions such as Lane Assist and Front Assist, Connected Travel Assist with automatic traffic light recognition is optionally available. An innovation is also the introduction of driving with one pedal, whereby the vehicle intensively recovers energy when releasing the gas pedal until it comes to a complete stop, which makes city driving easier.
The new software has an integrated app store inside infotainment system, which enables the download of popular services for streamingparking or game functions, similar to smartphones. The list of accessories includes head-up a screen with augmented reality, a panoramic roof and a Harman Kardon audio system. Pre-sale of the new model in Germany and in many European markets starts on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
