WANDER (2020, USA) Movie review, plot, trailer, rating

Arthur Bretnik (Aaron Eckhart) is a mentally unstable conspiracy theorist and private investigator with a traumatic past. Apparently Arthur has gone astray after his daughter was killed in a car accident and his wife ended up in a catatonic insane asylum, and he now lives somewhere in the middle of the desert. in another silly role in another silly movie). But one follower of his Podcast will hire Arthur to investigate the disappearance of her daughter, and that investigation will take him to the mysterious town of Wander. This investigator who acts like a real paranoid schizophrenic will soon become convinced that this case is somehow connected to the case of his tragedy, but the problem will arise because his condition seems to be getting worse and he is finding it harder to understand what is reality and what his delusions.

Arthur will be entangled in a completely bizarre conspiracy theory, and together with him, all of us who decided to watch this really chaotic and confusing film in which the story fell apart very, very quickly will be entangled. At times, “Wander” seemed to me as if all the members of the film crew, from screenwriters and directors through editors and cameramen to actors, were arguing with each other and as if everyone had decided to pull on their side. The completely chaotic script was upgraded with a slightly irritating camera and editing, and the director, a certain April Mullen, seemed to try to get it all out with something she thought was a wild, energetic and inspired direction, but seemed to further blow things up. “Wander” was quite an ambitious film that seemed at times to be a kind of parody of all these conspiracy theories that we have been bombarded with from all sides lately, but nothing has worked.

All the more so because the story is extremely current and deals with topics such as the issue of illegal immigrants and chipping people, because in the introductory scene we will see that all those who try to leave Vander will not end well because there are some crazy experiments on humans. . It seemed at first that “Wander” could be a parody of all this madness and all that nonsense in which fools believe that Donald Trump is the reincarnation of Jesus that will save the world or what these American goat fuckers already believe, but we got none of it. That’s why we got complete chaos, headless and tailless nonsense that even a solid cast of Katheryn Winnick and Heather Graham failed to save. Rating 4/10.
