The most anticipated game of 2026 has not yet entered the polishing phase, according to journalist Jason Schreier. Is this cause for alarm?
GTA 6 is slated for November 19, 2026. But until that date hits the calendar, there will be fears that Rockstar may push the game’s release for the third time.
Now journalist Jason Schreier from Bloomberg has added fuel to the fire, presenting somewhat alarming information. Schreier says that all content for GTA 6 is still not readyaccording to the latest information he’s heard from people familiar with the current state of Rockstar.
In other words, GTA 6 is still developing missions, side content, or similar things. And it’s still not fully decided what will and won’t end up in the final version of the game.
This is not a cause for alarm, there are still ten months left until the planned launch of GTA 6. However, it can be assumed that GTA 6 is a huge game, and huge games it also takes a lot of time in the polishing phasewhich will follow after all game content has been completed.
By comparison, Nintendo’s massive The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was “almost finished” in spring 2022, but ended up launching a year later, meaning its polishing period was close to 14 months.
Schreier concludes that it is impossible to predict whether the game will be completed on time because no one at Rockstar is 100% sure about that either. Although it would definitely be frustrating to experience a third delay in a row, it is pointed out that a shorter move to 2027 would not hurt the publisher Take-Two Interactive, considering that their fiscal year runs until 3/31/2027.
