Fable fans are disappointed because one thing from the previous games has been dropped

Although the new Fable will retain certain features of the old games of its series, some things had to be done away with, such as the canine companion.

Yesterday it was announced that the new Fable will bring back some of the things that made the previous games specific. Unlike classic action RPGs, previous Fable games have always had a bit of a twist simulation component. The player could buy a house, start a family, start a business, etc.

As we found out in yesterday’s presentation, the new Fable will also have such things in its gameplay. However, there will also be things that will be missing compared to the previous games. And one of the most important are animal companions, or more precisely – not.

Namely, the dog as an assistant was a significant addition in Fable 2. It directed the players where they needed to go, found hidden treasures on the map, helped them in battle, etc. The appearance of the dog and its acceptance changed with the reputation of the player himself, so the other characters could either drive him away or love him, depending on whether the player was good or bad.

Unfortunately, that segment of the gameplay will not return in the new Fable. A dog was considered at one point, but it was decided that it would complicate the development of the game too much, so it was dropped entirely. The director of Fable says that it did not sit well with some members of the development team.

Among the other things that will be missing from the new Fable, it is worth mentioning that there will be no longer growing horns if we choose to play as a bad character. And it seems that there will be no farting in front of other characters either!
