All three Jak and Daxter games now (unofficially) have their PC versions

Sony’s forgotten Jak (and Daxter) series has not been forgotten on the PC platform, which now has unofficial PC ports for all three parts of the main series.

Naughty Dog’s Jak (and Daxter) series has been preserved for today’s PlayStation generation, but rather sloppily. The PlayStation 4 collection managed to come off worse than the PlayStation 3 remaster in some technical areas, and it seems that this will never be fixed – at least not on the PlayStation.

On the other hand, PC has just become the best place to experience Jak and Daxter games in the highest quality.

To be more precise, the beta version of the decompilation port for Jak 3 was released yesterday. Or in translation – an unofficial but native PC version of Jak 3 that you can play in 4K quality and with unlocked framerateom. As similar ports already exist for the previous two games in the series, this successfully ported the entire Jak trilogy to PC.

Now, since this is still an unofficial PC port of the PlayStation game, the decompilation doesn’t contain the actual game files, so the whole thing can exist legally. In other words, interested players must make sure to get their hands on a PS2 disc copy of Jak and Daxter, Jak II, or Jak III.
