From Bugatti comes a gallery of photos and stories about their latest creation within the “Sur Mesure” program – it’s a unique W16 model Mistral called “Caroline“. This car is not just another technical achievement of the brand, but a deeply personal story of a long-time client who wanted to create a moving work of art as an ode to his daughter. The project represents the pinnacle of Bugatti’s philosophy in which the wishes of the customer and craftsmanship are combined into an inimitable product, marking at the same time one of the last chapters of the legendary W16 engine, say the French-Croatian company.
Floral motifs and details
The exterior design of this completely unique, and perhaps a bit kitschy, car is defined by a specific shade of lavender, inspired by the fields of this plant in Provence and the gardens of Paris. This color has unique optical properties: depending on the angle of incidence of light, the tones change from cold bluish-purple to warmer, deeper shades. This delicate aesthetic is contrasted by the lower part of the body made of visible carbon fiber in purple, which achieves a visual balance between the elegance of the upper part and the aggressiveness of the lower part.
The special feature of this model is hidden in the details that are visible only when certain components are activated. On the underside of the active rear spoiler is a hand-painted composition of lilac and iris flowers, which only becomes visible at higher speeds or under braking. These floral motifs run throughout the vehicle, symbolizing tenderness and natural beauty, a rare contrast in the world of hypercars dominated by raw materials and industrial design.

The interior of the cabin follows the exterior theme through the use of the finest leather, creating an ambience reminiscent of high fashion (Haute Couture). The headrests and door trims are decorated with precise embroidery of floral motifs, while the shift lever features a “dancing elephant” sculpture. Rembrandt’s Bugattithis time incorporated in glass that matches the color of the rest of the interior. Every element of the cabin was carefully chosen to ensure coherence with the “Caroline” theme.
Power without a roof
Although aesthetics are in the foreground, the Mistral “Caroline” retains the brutal performance of the standard model. It is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 engine with four turbochargers that develops 1,600 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque. As a roadster, the Mistral gives the driver a direct aural experience of the engine thanks to the roof-mounted air intakes, which are designed as a tribute to historic models such as the Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid. The maximum speed of this car is declared at 420 km/h, which ranks it among the fastest open cars in the world.
Although Bugatti has not officially announced the price of this unique example, it is estimated that it significantly exceeds the starting price of the standard Mistral of five million euros.
