Recently, rumors about the future design of iPhone devices have been changing frequently. First there was information that the iPhone 18 Pro series will completely remove the Dynamic Island, but later numerous industry sources clarified that it is actually only about its reduction, and not its complete disappearance.
The same applies to the expectations related to the year 2027, when Apple marks 20 years since the launch of the first iPhone device. For a long time, it was believed that the company would present a radically new design, i.e. an iPhone made almost entirely of glass, with a screen without any cutouts or openings. That idea came from earlier Bloomberg reports and caused high expectations among users.
Dynamic Island remains for years to come
However, retired analyst Ross Young states that the iPhone 18 Pro models will only use a smaller version of the Dynamic Island solution and that the design will remain until 2027. According to him, even in 2028, Apple will not completely remove the notch on the screen, but will keep the centrally positioned hole, probably as part of the further reduced Dynamic Island.
Young recalls that back in June 2025, in his projection of Apple’s plans, he stated that an iPhone with a completely flat screen, without a notch and without any opening, probably will not appear before 2030.
Given that 2027 is still relatively far away and such products are now in the early stages of development, final design decisions may change. However, current indications suggest that expectations for a “real” full-screen iPhone for the 20th anniversary should be kept modest.
