Apple plans to introduce its first bendable phone called the iPhone Fold in September, and the first estimates indicate that the company could immediately occupy between 22% and 28% of the global market. Such a result would launch Apple directly among the leading players, with Samsung as the leader and Huawei as the runner-up.
According to available information, the iPhone Fold will use a “book-style” design with two screens. The main internal screen has a diagonal of 7.76 inches, a resolution of 2713×1920 and uses the technology of the camera under the screen, without a visible opening. The external screen of 5.49 inches has a resolution of 2088×1422 and uses a classic punch-hole design.

Apple is changing the rules in the foldable segment
Apple is reportedly introducing a number of technological solutions that target the key weaknesses of bendable phones. The focus is on the almost invisible crease in the fold area of the screen, which is a problem that the industry has been trying to solve for years. In addition, the device will have a titanium body and a new generation liquid metal hinge, which should improve durability.
Interestingly, Apple is reportedly abandoning the Face ID system and bringing back Touch ID, which indicates a design compromise to optimize the internal space of the device. The camera system will be dual, suggesting a focus on the balance between performance and construction.

Analysts point out that the entry of Apple could significantly accelerate the development of this segment of mobile phones. Samsung would still retain about 60% of the market thanks to its long-term dominance, while Huawei with about 17% remains a strong player, especially in the Chinese market.
The global foldable phone market is expected to grow by around 20% in 2026, primarily due to the increasing focus of manufacturers on large foldable models that offer better productivity and multimedia experience. Apple could make the biggest impact in that segment, analysts Counterpoint and IDC estimate.
