Apple plans to launch the Mac Neo as a cheaper alternative due to the shortage of the Mac mini model

The Apple Mac Neo is coming into focus as a potential new solution in the desktop segment, as Apple plans to launch a more affordable model to alleviate the problem of limited availability of the Mac mini.

According to available information, the Mac Neo would be positioned below the Mac mini model and intended for users who are looking for basic functionalities such as surfing the Internet, working in documents and everyday tasks.

Apple Mac Neo targets the cheaper desktop segment

In terms of hardware, the device would use the A19 Pro chip, the same one that powers the iPhone 17 Pro series, along with the standard 12GB of RAM. Thanks to the optimization of the A series of chips, low power consumption of around 35W is expected, with stable performance for basic tasks.

Unlike models with M series processors, Mac Neo will not be intended for demanding scenarios such as video processing or professional applications, but will offer a sufficient level of performance for a wide range of users.

Design-wise, the device could be very compact, with dimensions similar to the Apple TV 4K model, with the possibility of using a plastic case in multiple colors. In terms of connections, two USB-C ports with a speed of 10 Gbps are mentioned.

The key trump card will be the price. The Mac Neo is expected to cost around $299, which is significantly less than the Mac mini which starts at around $599. With this, Apple is clearly targeting users with a limited budget, but also part of the Windows mini PC market.
