After the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport set the world record for production vehicles in 2010 by reaching a speed of 431.072 km/h, the brand launched an exclusive “World Record Edition” series in honor of this achievement. Characterized by visible carbon fiber and striking orange details, this series has become a symbol of automotive excellence. Today, that legacy continues through the official restoration program of La Maison Pur Sang, which has just completed work on a special pre-production example for a private collector.
This particular car played a key role in the brand’s history as a development vehicle. It served for international promotions, media presentations and testing of systems that were later implemented in serial models. Before coming to Molsheim for restoration, the vehicle has accumulated more than 70,800 kilometers since the summer of 2010, which makes it one of the more active examples in the world of hypercars.
Half a year of work
Experts from Molsheim spent six months restoring the car to its original condition. In the interior, the leather surfaces have been rejuvenated, the seats have been restored to their original shape and comfort, and the steering wheel has been fully serviced to provide an authentic driving feel. Every seam and finish has been carefully inspected and refined, giving the interior a whole new life while maintaining its historic integrity.
The exterior of the vehicle underwent an equally detailed transformation. The exposed carbon fiber bodywork has been completely renewed with a new clear coat, while the signature orange color has been refreshed to bring back the visual contrast from the record-breaking model.
During the process, certain pre-production components were upgraded to production specifications. This includes optimization of electronic systems and radiators, thus ensuring the long-term reliability of the vehicle. However, the heart of the car remained intact – the original W16 engine and complex gearbox were kept in their original form, thus preserving the mechanical authenticity of this historically significant example.
Luigi Galliheritage and certification specialist at Bugatti, noted that the La Maison Pur Sang program allows owners to enjoy driving their historic vehicles with complete confidence. The restored Veyron now begins a new chapter in its owner’s collection, accompanied by an official certification book documenting its unique journey from development prototype to restored automotive icon.
