What is “Dead to Me” about?
The Netflix series “Dead to Me” was officially announced as a “dark” comedy and it’s a perfectly accurate description. The action is in principle very simple; we follow Jen Harding played by the excellent Christina Applegate, a relatively successful real estate agent who has problems with outbursts of anger and who recently lost her husband. Ted was killed by a car that did not stop to help him, and it was up to Jen to make the whole situation as bearable as possible for her two sons, teenager Charlie played by Sam McCarthy and younger Henry played by Luke Roessler. Jen is not a typical widow, so although she often runs away crying where no one sees her, she will have no problem answering a courteous neighbor who says she can’t imagine how she feels.
So she fights grief with cynicism and the mentioned outbursts of rage, which are not foreign to her, as well as obsessive examinations of damaged cars in the neighborhood where she looks for traces of the crime, and her biggest problem is that she can’t sleep even 3 months after her husband’s death. This is where local Pastor Wayne played by Keong Sim leads the Friends of Heaven support group, which brings together all those who have lost someone close to them.
Although reluctant, Jen Harding goes to the first session and meets Judy Hale played by Linda Cardellini, a somewhat eccentric but indescribably dear and warm woman who has recently lost her fiancé. Since neither of them can sleep, Judy suggests she call her at any time of the day or night to talk about whatever she wants. The two women will soon bond strongly, showing us stages of pain and ways of grieving that we haven’t often had the opportunity to watch on television, and then comes the first of many big plot twists, one of the reasons “Dead to Me” series has got our attention us so much. We won’t even reveal the hints of the first one, let alone the ones that will follow, because we don’t want to spoil your viewing experience in the slightest.

Maybe we can only say that Judy is not exactly the person she introduced herself to be, and in that sense, we advise you not to watch the “Dead to Me” series before going to bed you may easily pass your bedtime. If you loved series like “Big Little Lies,” with strong female roles and a bunch of intrigues, then you shouldn’t miss “Dead To Me either. We guarantee that once you look at it, you will start counting days until next season.
At the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, Applegate received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
Dead to Me Season 3 Plot
Season 3 is set to be about somebody else’s secret. Showrunner Liz Feldman told Refinery “There’s some more story to tell. I know exactly what I would want to do for the third season especially now that you know how Season 2 ends. Now there’s somebody else with a secret.” Liz is possibly referring to Ben since he crashed into Jen and Judy while driving under the influence and drove away from the crash scene.`
