E-Day arrives on October 6 with DLSS 4.5 and ray tracing optimization

Gears of War: E-Day releases on October 6 and takes players fourteen years before the events of the original Gears of War title. At the center of the story are Marcus Fenix ​​and Dominic Santiago, in a campaign that depicts the moment when the Locust Horde first emerges from underground and starts a brutal fight for survival.

The new game tells the story of the Emergence Day event, one of the most important moments in the Gears universe. In addition to the campaign, players will be able to gather a team and play multiplayer through a new interpretation of the famous Horde Siege PvE mode, as well as through a refined Versus PvP mode.

Gears of War: E-Day was developed from the ground up in the Unreal Engine 5 environment, with DirectX 12 support. The Coalition uses the latest technologies of this engine to achieve a significantly higher level of graphical fidelity and destruction compared to previous sequels. The result is visible – a cinematic level of animation quality.

MegaLights technology enables efficient rendering of ray-traced shadows from up to 100 light sources, while Lumen brings ray-traced global lighting and ambient occlusion shading. Nanite is used to drastically increase the detail of objects, with claims that the level of geometric detail can be up to 100 times greater than Gears 5.

The game will also make use of other Unreal Engine enhancements, including real-time destruction, wider use of volumetric effects and particles, and larger and more explosive scenes. The goal is for Gears of War: E-Day to be the most technically ambitious and intense installment in the series.

On PCs with GeForce RTX graphics cards, the game will support DLSS 4.5 from day one. Thanks to a technical partnership with NVIDIA, RTX users will be able to turn on DLSS Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation for more frames and better image quality.

NVIDIA Reflex will reduce latency on PC, which should bring faster commands and a better sense of control, especially in Versus PvP mode. Ray Tracing cores on GeForce RTX graphics cards will accelerate the rendering of Lumen and MegaLights technologies in the Unreal Engine 5.8 environment.

The free beta version starts on August 6 for users who pre-order the game and for PC Game Pass subscribers. The exact start time and additional details will be announced later. The PC beta will support DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex, so that players will get better image quality, more performance and lower latency already in the test version.
