Jaguar said goodbye to the internal combustion engine with the last F-Pace

Jaguar has produced the last F-Pace at its factory in Solihull. This event is significant for two big reasons – it marks the end of production of the popular SUV, but also the end of production of all Jaguar vehicles powered by an internal combustion engine.

Although these are two huge milestones in the company’s history, you’d be hard-pressed to tell from Jaguar’s reaction. In fact, the company did not bother to put together a press release or even publish the news on social networks. Many will agree that such a move is disrespectful to one’s own heritage and the significance of the moment, especially since production ended on December 19th.

As Jaguar continues to operate somewhat aimlessly, the task of relaying the story fell to the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, who were present at the send-off. They report that the final car was a black F-Pace SVR, and the color was chosen as a tribute to the last E-Type, which also “marked the end of a great Jaguar era”.

It’s also worth noting that black is associated with funerals, which is perhaps fitting given that Jaguar is risking just that if their controversial makeover fails. The last example produced has been handed over to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, where it will join a collection that includes numerous prototypes, concepts, racing cars and road models.
