The working name of the next Xbox console has been revealed, as well as its new logo. Project Helix will be a device that runs games for Xbox and PC.
The next generation of Xbox now has a working name: Project Helix.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is the code name for the device that will run games from previous Xbox consoles, but also PC titles. We knew before that Microsoft is preparing a hybrid device, practically a console with Windows, but now it has been explicitly stated. However, it remains to be seen how exactly the device will run games from previous Xbox consoles – within Windows or as a separate boot.
In addition to the announcement of the code name, Microsoft also presented what appears to be complete new logo for xbox. If this is indeed the new logo, it will be the second change in Xbox’s 25 years. The first change came with the Xbox 360 console, and that logo has remained to this day.
We may find out more details about Project Helix next week at the Game Developers Convention (GDC).
