Rumor has it that Sony will no longer be bringing its single-player games to PC

Otherwise knowledgeable journalist Jason Schreier says he got the impression that Sony has abandoned the strategy of bringing its single-player games to the PC platform.

In the future, Sony may partially abandon the launch of its games on the PC platform, said otherwise informed and reliable journalist Jason Schreier.

Appearing on the Triple Click podcast, Schreier stated that he got the impression that Sony returns to traditional console exclusivesat least as far as single-player is concerned. Schreier says he wouldn’t be surprised if the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine never ends up on the PC platform.

Two days earlier, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman made a similar point, arguing that the PC has become a less important platform for PlayStation’s current leadership.

Sony has a practice of launching its games on PC started in 2020 and so far Uncharted, Horizon, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Death Stranding, The Last of Us and some other titles have ended up on PC. Granted, we never got PC versions of Sony’s hits like Gran Turismo 7, Demon’s Souls or Astro Bot. Sony titles that did end up on PC always came to that platform months or years later than PlayStation 4/5.

The financial results of Sony’s games on the PC platform have never been made public, but player activity on Steam shows how they are not very great. Sony’s most successful single-player title on PC was Stellar Blade, while they achieved the most success with Helldivers 2 as a co-op game.

Currently, Sony has only one upcoming single-player game announced for PC, and that is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. As for multiplayer titles, Marathon, Horizon: Hunter’s Gathering and Fairgame$ are in development.
