The iconic British Range Rover Sport is also going electric

British JLR has officially confirmed the imminent arrival of its second all-electric Range Rover brand, called the Sport Electric. This model will mark the beginning of a new era for the brand, and will combine recognizable sports luxury with an environmentally conscious drive. The manufacturer announces that the new SUV will be more dynamic and faster than ever before, with which it plans to redefine the segment of luxury electric SUVs – once it officially appears on the market, at the end of this year.

A complete range of drives

The announcement of this model followed a series of closed summer presentations of the first electric model, the classic Range Rover Electric. The Range Rover Sport Electric retains its distinctive, muscular silhouette and design lines, but now combines them with an all-electric powertrain that delivers instant, powerful performance and a refined ride.

The capabilities of the new model were first demonstrated during a private presentation at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed. On that occasion, the Range Rover prototypes completed a series of demanding runs on the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Technological solutions integrated into this model include advanced chassis settings and a special sound signature design, which will provide drivers with a characteristic sense of control and direct feedback on any type of surface.

With the introduction of an all-electric version this year, Range Rover will complete the range of powertrains for the Range Rover Sport model. Customers will thus have a wide choice available, which, in addition to the new electric drive, includes a plug-in hybrid, a mild hybrid with a V8 gasoline engine, and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel options. Each of those options is tailored to specific customer requirements, while the electric version is calibrated to provide an equally exciting and engaging driving experience for what they say is the brand’s “sportiest” model.
