The Steam Machine launch may have been delayed again

Valve published an article that first said they hoped to launch new hardware in 2026, but later revised that statement.

The Steam Machine, the new Steam controller and the VR headset Steam Frame should be launched sometime this spring. At least that’s the official plan that Valve communicated recently. However, even that could be uncertain at this point.

The situation with global memory shortage it doesn’t get better, Valve doesn’t have enough memory even to produce Steam Decks, so the fate of Steam Machine and Steam Frame devices is still in question. Adding fuel to the fire was the team from Valve, who in yesterday’s overview of the development of Steam in 2025 wrote that they hope to be able to launch new hardware in 2026.

Steam Hardware Announcement

After many took that sentence as a sign that the launch of new Steam hardware this year is not certain, Valve has rewritten what was written. Now the text reads: “We will launch all three products in 2026. More information will be shared as we finalize plans.”

So, Valve is still counting on the launch of new hardware in 2026, only now the first half of the year is no longer mentioned. By accident or on purpose? We will find out very soon.
