Volkswagen has officially unveiled its latest electric model, the ID.Unyx 08, a large SUV that represents a significant step forward in the company’s strategy for the Chinese market. This model, developed under the slogan “In China, for China”, is positioned as a purely electric SUV, and will be produced by the Volkswagen Anhui subsidiary. With its dimensions, which include a length of exactly 5,000 mm and a wheelbase of 3,030 mm, the ID.Unyx 08 offers spaciousness and robustness, while the design with narrow daytime running lights and an illuminated logo visually significantly separates it from the European IDs. model.
A technological breakthrough
Under the hood, the ID.Unyx 08 brings impressive technical specifications, not quite typical of Volkswagen as we know it. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, extremely fast charging is possible, and customers will be able to choose between two battery capacities – 82.4 kWh and 95 kWh – which in the most powerful configuration enables a range of up to 730 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC standard. An electric motor with a power of 230 kW (308 hp) is responsible for the drive.
In addition to the powertrain, Volkswagen has placed great emphasis on advanced technologies and software solutions. The vehicle is equipped with an Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) level L2++, which includes functions such as “parking-to-parking” navigation. The interior features a variety of smart innovations, including an AI intelligent assistant with a 3D avatar that uses large language models to interact with passengers, emphasizing its focus on a younger, tech-savvy audience. The design language of the ID.Unyx 08 is also refreshed on the outside, with double side lines and hidden door handles, while the rear is characterized by minimalist flat lights.
This model, which is expected to enter the market in 2026, is a key part of Volkswagen’s ID.UX series, recognizable by the brand’s golden logo. Although it shares certain stylistic elements with the smaller model ID.Unyx 06, the “eight” brings significantly larger dimensions and a more advanced platform, targeting a segment of customers looking for luxury and top technology. The initial price also seems very interesting, which on the Chinese market will amount to around 25,000 euros, converted into our currency.
