Samsung is preparing a new Adaptive Clock style for Galaxy devices, and this change will arrive with the One UI 9.0 update later in the year. The new option expands the selection of clock styles available on the lock screen and, according to first impressions from the beta version, brings a more striking and clear look.
The Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for July 22, when Samsung should officially unveil the new software update. However, One UI 9.0 is already available through the beta program, so some changes can be seen earlier.

One of them is the new Adaptive Clock design. The previous watch style is not removed, but moved as a second option, while the new look becomes the primary choice. The biggest difference can be seen in the shape of the font, especially in the first and last characters of the displayed time.
The new font has differently incised lower parts of individual characters, but maintains better spacing and readability. Because of this, the clock on the lock screen appears clearer, more stable and visually more modern, while still maintaining adaptive behavior in relation to the background and arrangement of elements.
The option is currently available in One UI 9 Beta on the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung should deliver it to a wider range of users through the official One UI 9.0 update, which is expected to start in September, while the wider distribution could continue during October 2026.
If your Galaxy device is currently running One UI 8.5 and is among the models that will receive One UI 9.0, it should also receive the new Adaptive Clock style. The change is not big functionally, but it can noticeably refresh the look of the lock screen, especially for users who like to change the visual style of the phone often, reports Sammy Fans.
