Xbox considers canceling Blade game and closing Arkane Studios

According to unofficial information, the French studio Arkane is also at risk of closure, and their game Marvel’s Blade could be canceled.

There is great uncertainty in anticipation of which development studios and games Microsoft will get rid of in the announced “Xbox reset”. We already wrote earlier that Double Fine Productions, Ninja Theory, Compulsion Games and Undead Labs are among the delisted teams, and now another name has appeared – Arkane Studios.

As the portal The Verge learns from its sources, Microsoft is looking for a buyer for the French studio Arkane, i.e. their remaining branch in Lyon. If they don’t find a buyer, it’s likely that the studio could close.

Arkane Lyon hasn’t launched any games in the last five years. They are currently developing Marvel’s Bladebut that title could also be cancelled. Previously at Arkane, they were responsible for cult games such as Dishonored 1 and 2, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and Arx Fatalis.

According to information coming from the same sources, a new wave of layoffs at Xbox will follow next week.
