20 CPU cores and GeForce with 6144 CUDA cores

Just a few days away from the start of the Computex 2026 trade show in Taipei, NVIDIA and Microsoft simultaneously made a mysterious announcement on the official X accounts. The message reads “a new era of PCs”, with the coordinates 25.0528, 121.5990, which lead to the Taipei Music Center location near the Nangang Exhibition Center area.

Such an announcement immediately triggered high expectations in the industry. More and more sources indicate that Nvidia could present the N1X, the flagship mobile processor of the Arm architecture intended for the Windows 11 on ARM platform, as well as its lighter N1 version at Computex. This would be the first time the company would seriously enter the market of main processors for laptop computers, and not just GPUs and AI accelerators.

The Nvidia N1X processor targets the new era of Windows laptops

According to previous information, NVIDIA N1X will use TSMC 3 nm technology and 20-core Arm big.LITTLE architecture. The configuration should include 10 high-performance cores and 10 lean cores, with 32 MB of shared L3 cache.

An even more interesting part concerns the graphics. The N1X should integrate a GPU based on the GeForce Blackwell architecture, with as many as 6144 CUDA cores. Therefore, it is mentioned that the graphics performance could approach the level of discrete graphics solutions such as the RTX 5060 Ti or even the RTX 5070, although the actual results will depend on the consumption, cooling and configuration of the laptop.

The chip should use a unified memory architecture and support up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory. In terms of overall capabilities, NVIDIA N1X is positioned as a competitor to the Apple M5 Pro and AMD Ryzen AI Max 400 platforms, i.e. as a solution for premium mobile computers with powerful AI, graphics and processing in the field of demanding applications for creative content.

Microsoft obviously attaches great importance to this cooperation. In addition to the joint announcement, Pavan Davuluri, the head of Windows and Surface business, said that it is not a new version of the operating system, but published a dark image of the device with indicated curved edges. This further increases expectations that the N1X could be found in the future Surface Laptop Studio 3 model or the new Surface Pro flagship device.

Until now, the Windows on Arm ecosystem has largely depended on Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips. Nvidia’s entry could change the balance of power, especially in areas where Arm laptops have previously lagged behind: gaming, 3D rendering, local AI processing and 4K video editing.

It is also mentioned that Dell, Lenovo and ASUS are already preparing devices based on the N1 and N1X platforms. The Dell XPS, Lenovo Legion and ASUS ProArt series could be among the first lines of laptops to show what Nvidia brings to the Windows laptop segment. If expectations are confirmed, Computex 2026 could mark the beginning of a serious assault on the long-standing dominance of the Intel and AMD x86 platforms.
