According to Mark Gurman, the new version of the system, which is internally codenamed “Rave”, should go back to the basics and focus on internal optimization, similar to what Apple did in 2009 with the Mac OS X Snow Leopard edition.
iOS 27 emphasizes performance and stability
The development teams are working on a thorough “cleaning” of the system. This means removing outdated code, rewriting certain system components, improving the general speed of operation and optimizing battery consumption. The goal is for iOS 27 to be faster, more stable and more energy efficient, and for older iPhone models to benefit from these changes as well.
Although some minor changes to the interface are planned, a visual revolution like the one seen in iOS 26 is not expected. Instead, Apple wants users to feel the difference through the smooth operation of the system, faster reactions and longer battery life in daily use, without the need for aggressive marketing highlighting of these changes.
The move carries added weight at a time when Apple is rumored to be gearing up for entirely new product categories, including a clamshell iPhone and touchscreen MacBook Pro. In such an environment, a reliable and optimized operating system becomes the key basis for the further development of the ecosystem.
In addition to technical improvements, iOS 27 should continue to expand AI features. In particular, the improved version of the Siri assistant stands out, some advanced features of which have already been delayed several times and are now, according to available information, expected precisely within iOS 27, and not the previously planned iOS 26.
