The Sony PS6 brings full compatibility with previous models and an unexpectedly low price

The Sony PS6 brings big changes as Sony plans a new generation of consoles with a focus on compatibility, performance and lower production costs.

According to preliminary information published by Moore’s Law Is Dead, the PS6 will support games from the PS4 and PS5 platforms, meaning that users will immediately have access to a large library of existing titles.

Sony PS6 brings compatibility and a lower price

The new generation will be based on the RDNA 5 architecture, with improvements in efficiency and performance. A special focus is placed on AI image scaling as an integral part of the system, which further improves the visual quality. The console will support ray tracing effects and will be compatible with existing PS5 games that use this technology.

The interesting part concerns the portable version, codenamed Canis, which will use optimized energy-efficient operating modes to extend battery life. A version adapted to European energy efficiency standards is also mentioned.

On the hardware side, estimates indicate that the production price of the APU chip for the portable model could be around 44 euros, which is significantly lower than the previous generation, with performance that could surpass the PlayStation 5.

Thanks to this approach, it is expected that the PS6 could have a starting price of around 370 euros, which would make it extremely competitive compared to current consoles.

Everything indicates that Sony is aiming for a combination of high compatibility, modern technologies and an aggressive price to quickly conquer the market in the next generation of consoles.
