Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 – the first tests still do not reveal the full potential, because the large dual 3D cache remains unfilled

According to data from the HWBOT platform, the first Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 tests were performed with air cooling, in a configuration with 32 GB of DDR5 memory, Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics and an ASUS ROG Strix B850-A motherboard.

In the 7-Zip test, the processor achieved a result of 227,919 MIPS at a working clock of 5.13 GHz, with a temperature that reached 96 degrees. In the Cinebench 2026 test, the single-core score is 746 points at 5.4 GHz, while the multi-core reaches 9,246 points with a maximum clock of 5.19 GHz.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 brings 208 MB of cache

In the older Cinebench R23 test, the multi-core score is 38,579 points, with similar frequencies and temperatures hovering around 95 degrees.

Power consumption during testing reached 220 W, which is in line with the declared TDP of 200 W.

The biggest novelty is the dual 3D cache design. The processor uses two 3D cache units with 64 MB each, with an additional 16 MB of L2 and 64 MB of L3 cache, which brings a total of impressive 208 MB of cache memory.

However, these results are just the beginning. The tests were conducted with air cooling, while earlier results of the standard Ryzen 9 9950X3D model showed significantly better performance with advanced water cooling systems.

This means that the true potential of the 9950X3D2 model is yet to be seen, especially under better cooling conditions where the dual 3D cache could show its full power.
