The Estonian studio ZA/UM failed to repeat the success of Disco Elysium, so it is laying off some of its employees

The spy adventure Zero Parades: For Dead Spies was not commercially successful, and the Estonian studio ZA/UM announced the layoff of 32 employees.

A spy role-playing adventure Zero Parades: For Dead Spies probably the highest rated game of 2026 played by the least number of players. Although the reviews for this spiritual successor to Disco Elysium were very good (83 on OpenCritic), the Estonian studio ZA/UM admitted that the game failed in sales.

The consequence of this is that the studio had to reduce the number of employees and is 32 people were fired.

It is debatable why the game had a poor commercial result. It could be said that the timing of its release was potentially to blame, right in the shadow of another spy game – 007 First Light. The culprit could also be sought in the drama surrounding the ZA/UM studio itself, which Disco Elysium fans resent for chasing away the creators of that beloved game.

In any case, the absence of a “parade” for Zero Parades is a kind of warning for the many projects that strive to be true successors to Disco Elysium. And there are several such in development – we have Tangerine Antarctic, Hopetown and the unnamed project of the local collective Summer Eternal.
