After more than five years of development, the popular Viking survival hit will become available in the 1.0 version during the ninth month, with a new biome and the option of cross-play.
Publisher Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate announced that Valheim leaves early access and officially launches its version 1.0 in almost the worst time: 9. 9. of this year (Wednesday).
In addition to arriving as a complete game, Valheim premiered that day coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. The game has previously been available on PC and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and version 1.0 brings full support for cross-play between all platforms.
The official launch also brings the most anticipated new content: Deep Northwhich has been confirmed as the final biome of the Viking voyage. The studio’s creative director, Robin Eyre, admitted that they feel equal amounts of excitement and trepidation as they approach version 1.0, given how large and passionate a community has built up around the game since its inception.
The final Deep North biome brings players frozen tundras and glacial peaks filled with ancient evil. Most prominent among them are the Gammeltrolls, giants and guardians of the north that arise when the common trolls in Valheim grow too old and literally migrate to merge with the land itself. Elakingar lurk underground, the devils who defeated all the previous Vikings, and from time to time they are followed by creatures that are much more terrifying.
