Electronic Arts has announced that there has been a change in plans for the future of The Sims series. The next game in the series will be a mobile multiplayer title.
The worldwide popular series The Sims began its existence on the PC platform and then expanded to consoles. The Sims games are still active on all these platforms, but after a lot of wandering, Electronic Arts decided that the future of Sims is in mobile phones.
Long prepared Project Renewhich was supposed to be an evolution of the Sims formula in a multiplayer environment, has now become game for mobile devices. That doesn’t mean it won’t appear on PC and consoles, but the game will primarily be made for the limitations of mobile platforms.

Electronic Arts emphasizes that Project Rene will not be the successor to The Sims 4 and that it will be a separate experience from the simulation single-player gameplay as Sims fans are traditionally used to. Namely, Project Rene is designed more towards a new audience for whom The Sims 4 is too complicated.
Project Rene was originally announced at the end of 2022 and has been in closed testing for PC since then. According to Electronic Arts, the game has “evolved” into a mobile title.
According to unofficial information, this divergence could mean that the existing The Sims 4 get a kind of remaster which will lay a firmer technical foundation for future content. Rumors mention that the new version of The Sims 4 should have an open world like in The Sims 3 and some features from previous expansions for the four. Is there any truth in that – I guess we will find out soon.
