Android and Samsung are the most popular in Serbia

How often do we change phones and what is most important to us when buying? The latest market research shows clear patterns in the habits of citizens – from the dominance of certain brands, to how long we keep our devices.

IPSOS published data on the smartphone market in Serbia, according to which Android is still the most popular here, and Samsung has the most users.

Samsung leads ahead of Xiaomi and iPhone competitors, and the South Korean brand is currently used by a third of active mobile phone users in Serbia – 33% of them. Xiaomi is second with 20%, iPhone is third with 13, followed by HONOR and Huawei. These phone manufacturers have 12 and 6 percent of users, respectively. Motorola closes this part of the research with 4%. The conclusion states that all other brands are far below these six manufacturers.

Although the surveyed users point out that the brand is important, as much as 64% of the respondents consider the price as the primary factor when making a purchase decision. The brand follows with 41%, and then the camera, memory and battery. They are important for 32, 23 and 22% of users.

How many users keep their phones and how many devices they have

Most users use telephone aged between one and three years. Of that, 29% of respondents use a phone up to two years old, and 24% up to three years old. Every 10th respondent has a practically new phone, up to six months old. About 14% of users in Serbia have a phone that is between half a year and a year old.

According to the research results, older phones are less common. A device that is more than three years old is used by 11% of respondents. 6% of them use phones up to five years old, and only 4% use phones older than that.

Finally, let’s take a look at how many users have mobile phones with us. As mobile phones have become an indispensable part of everyday life, whether they are used for communication, work, information or entertainment, today almost everyone has them. IPSOS data show that the vast majority of Serbian citizens own a mobile phone, and a large number also use Android or iOS smartphones – as many as 86% of respondents. 13% of citizens own two phones, and 3% of respondents have three or more devices, IPSOS announced.
