According to a rumor from an otherwise reliable source, Nintendo is preparing a remake of the cult game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the end of 2026.
Cult game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time it should get its remake for the Nintendo Switch 2 at the end of 2026. At least that’s what the reliable claims insider under the nickname Natethehate, and his knowledge is confirmed by the sources of the VGC portal.
The plan is for the remake of Ocarina to be a “gift” to fans on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, and at the same time Nintendo’s flagship title for the 2026 holiday season, given that there will be no new Pokemon games this year, and apparently no new 3D Mario games either.
The original Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 console is, according to Metacritic, the highest rated game of all time. We already got a remake of it once – in 2011 for the Nintendo 3DS. However, since the 3DS games are not available on current Switch consoles, the only way to play Ocarina on Switch is through the (more expensive tier) subscription to Nintendo Switch Online, where the N64 version is offered.
By the way, a modernized version of Ocarina is also available on the PC platform, called Ship of Harkinian, with a note that you need to have the ROM file of the N64 version for that version.
