17 years ago today, the Call of Juarez series was at the peak of its popularity thanks to an excellent prequel called Bound in Blood.

Before Red Dead Redemption burst onto the scene, Techland’s Call of Juarez series showed rare moments of genius in Western-themed games. The series started in 2006, but in 2009 it returned to the very beginning in form prequela called Bound in Blood, which was released today for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
Bound in Blood followed the story of three brothers, two of whom we could play with. The McCall Brothers they were quick on the trigger and temperamental in drinking whiskey, they were declared deserters and along the way they met a femme fatale who had them around her little finger.
The McCall brothers were quick on the trigger and temperamental in drinking whiskey, and they were also declared deserters.
It was the perfect recipe for chaos, and chaos they delivered. Ray was slower but deadly with his set of revolvers. Thomas was more agile in his movement and used a rifle instead of a pistol. In most cases, players could choose which character they wanted to play with.
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood achieved significantly greater success than its predecessor and by the end of 2009 was sold in more than a million copies. Unfortunately, Ubisoft and Techland did not know how to use the momentum in the best way.
The third part of the game, called Call of Juarez: The Cartel, was set in the modern era and in 2011 almost destroyed the series. Call of Juarez returned once again in 2013 with spin-off a game called Gunslinger. We haven’t seen him since.
Today, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is available digitally on PC, and can also be played on Xbox Series X/S consoles.
