The Exynos 2800 will be the first to use Samsung’s most powerful 2nm SF2P+ process

The Exynos 2800 will be Samsung’s first flagship processor made in the most advanced SF2P+ 2nm manufacturing process. The new technology should debut with the release of the Galaxy S28 series of phones during the first half of 2028.

Samsung has published the latest roadmap for the development of the 2 nm manufacturing process, which shows that the company is preparing multiple variants of GAA technology for different categories of chips. The most interesting part of the plan relates to SF2P+, Samsung’s most advanced 2 nm process for mobile devices, which is expected to be mass produced in late 2027 or early 2028.

According to available information, the Exynos 2800 should be the first flagship chip made on the SF2P+ process. This processor is expected to be used in the Samsung Galaxy S28 series of phones, which should arrive in the first half of 2028.

The Exynos 2800 will use the most advanced Samsung 2nm SF2P+ process

Samsung has already divided its 2 nm processes by application areas. SF2 and SF2P are intended for mobile devices, with SF2 already entering mass production in 2025, while SF2P is planned for 2026. SF2X is developed for high-performance HPC and AI chips, also with planned production during 2026.

SF2Z and SF2A processes are planned for 2027. SF2Z uses BSPDN power supply technology from the back of the chip and is intended for AI and HPC solutions, while SF2A is specially adapted for automotive processors.

SF2P+ represents an additionally improved mobile version of the 2 nm process. Compared to the basic SF2P, improvements in transistor density, reduction of the “current leakage” effect and better efficiency at high frequencies are expected. With this, Samsung is trying to directly oppose the TSMC N2 process and become more competitive again in the production of the strongest mobile chips.

For now, Samsung has not published complete PPA data, i.e. specific improvements in performance, consumption and chip area. Details about the architecture of the Exynos 2800 processor, the production yield and the final devices that will use this chip are also not yet known.
