Global Electric Vehicle Sales Growth in Q1 2026 – Electric Vehicles @ Network

BEVs continue to dominate the electric vehicle market with a share of two-thirds of total sales, while sales of plug-in hybrids (PHEVs and EREVs) in Q1 2026 fell by 5% compared to the previous year.

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 14% of global passenger car sales, roughly the same as last year’s share.

China remained the key driver of growth and accounted for 45% of total global BEV sales, followed by Europe and the USA. However, sales of BEVs in China fell by 15% year-on-year.

A lack of demand, the expiration of government incentives, the elimination of tax incentives for electric vehicles, and changes in car trade-in subsidy programs have negatively affected sales of electric vehicles in China.
