Apple recently confirmed cooperation with Google, within which part of the functions of the Apple Intelligence system, as well as Siri, will rely on Gemini AI models. The goal of this move is to ease the lag in relation to the competition in the field of artificial intelligence. According to a report by The Information portal, iPhone users could get as many as eight new and quite significant features thanks to Gemini integration.
The report primarily focuses on the improvement of the Siri assistant. With the Gemini models, Siri should greatly expand the ability to understand and respond, including contextual and emotional aspects of communication. It is stated that the assistant could provide emotional support in situations when the user expresses loneliness or moodiness, but also answer questions in a way similar to ChatGPT or Gemini itself, with more accurate facts and checking of information.

Additionally, Siri could perform more specific tasks within apps, such as creating notes on a specific topic or managing personal tasks, including scheduling calendar events. The ability to remember previous conversations, telling stories, as well as giving proactive advice, for example on avoiding traffic jams or reminding when to pick up a friend, is also mentioned.
The same source also states that Gemini will support some of the Apple Intelligence features that Apple has already announced, but has not yet implemented. Among them are finding specific messages and emails through the Siri assistant, reading content from the screen to provide assistance, as well as the ability for Siri to perform certain actions within certain applications on behalf of the user.
