Google Photos turns the gallery into a mime factory

Google Photos is no longer just a classic gallery or service for storing photos in the cloud. In recent years, the application has received a number of tools for processing and creating content, which allow users to make photos and videos more interesting, dynamic and creative.

In addition to creating collages, automatic video memories and animations that “revive” photos, Google Photos has been offering image styling through various visual effects for some time. Now it’s adding another feature to it that goes one step further in the direction of fun sharable content.

Me meme: Google Photos AI tool for creating memes

A new feature called “Me meme” is now officially available and confirmed on the Google Photos app support page. Although traces of this option were previously seen in code analysis, it is now clear that the tool is ready for wider use.

Me meme uses generative artificial intelligence and predefined templates. Within the Create tab, the user selects the desired template, then a photo from his gallery, after which the application automatically generates a mime. In this way, the camera roll can produce practically unlimited content ready to be shared with friends, family or on social networks.

This feature probably won’t be of equal interest to everyone, but it shows the direction in which Google is developing Photos as a creative platform, rather than just a picture storage feature. Especially for users who are already deep in the Google ecosystem, the extra tools are all the more reason to stick with this app, despite the existence of numerous alternatives.

The Me meme feature is already available on Android and iOS devices. For users who have not explored the capabilities of the Google Photos application for a long time, this is a good reason to take a look at it again, because it is clear that more similar updates will arrive during the year, reports 9to5Google.
