Instagram photos suddenly became black and white

Instagram users around the world have reported an unusual problem, photos that were originally in color are displayed as black and white after uploading. Although many worried that it was a malfunction of the camera or the account, the company quickly reacted and confirmed that the cause was actually a software bug.

The problem mostly affected HDR photos, which were wrongly displayed without color due to a technical error in the system. On platforms like Reddit, users have been sharing their experiences en masse, stating that neither updating the app nor reinstalling it solves the problem.

Instagram bug turns HDR photos into black and white

Instagram confirmed that it was an internal error in the processing of HDR content, which only affected certain accounts. It is important to emphasize that the photos were not permanently damaged, but the problem was solely in the display mode.

The good news is that the bug has already been fixed. According to official information, all affected photos should automatically return to their original, color display without the need for any user intervention.

If the black and white display still appears, you just need to wait a few hours until the changes are synchronized on all devices and servers.

This case once again shows how sensitive image processing systems can be, especially when it comes to advanced formats like HDR, but also how quickly platforms like Instagram can react when an error occurs.
