Intel has announced that it is ready for laptops with folding screens, which should appear on the market during 2022.
At CES 2022, Intel announced that it is working on specifications for laptops with a folding screen. Intel announces that such laptops will hit the market in 2022, two years after we saw them in the conceptual phase.
Flip screens, meanwhile, have come to life in the world of smartphones, though not without difficulty. Lenovo had its first folding screen on the laptop market with its ThinkPad X1 Fold, which also showed the main idea behind this format. On the one hand the laptop could be used in a classic way, with a detachable keyboard, and on the other hand it could offer twice the size of a tablet screen.
It’s an interesting idea, but what she’s missing right now is appropriate software support. Windows is not yet fully adapted for such devices, so their application, for example in the context of gaming, is currently without a real demonstration.
