Maybach has taken everything that makes the new Mercedes S-Class extraordinary and raised it to an even higher level. Although the external changes do not seem drastic at first glance, it is the details that tell the story of uncompromising luxury. This ultra-luxury sedan brings more technology, personalization and countless ways to distance itself from its relatively modest S-Class sibling.
Eye-catching design, day and night
Maybach says that this is the most comprehensive refresh of the model in history. Instead of a complete redesign, the focus is on visual drama. The front grille is now 20 percent larger and for the first time comes with a fully illuminated bezel, within which the “Maybach” lettering is discreetly backlit. The lighting signatures have been refined, and customers in some markets can also order illuminated emblems and even an illuminated three-pointed star on the bonnet.
If that’s not enough, Maybach now offers forged rims with the Mercedes star on the center cap that always stands upright. Thanks to a special mechanism, regardless of the wheel’s rotation speed, the star remains perfectly aligned. Some rims can also be ordered in a high-gloss chrome finish, just in case restraint has already left the room.

A private salon on wheels
The interior is designed with the goal of making passengers feel less like they are in a car and more like they are in a private salon. The standard MBUX Superscreen now displays Maybach-specific graphics, new wood trim and ambient lighting themes have been added. There’s even a leather-free interior option, which uses high-quality textile and synthetic materials for buyers looking for a different approach to luxury.
Artificial intelligence, supported by the latest operating system MB.OS, also plays a big role. As Carscoops reports, the system now integrates tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, allowing the vehicle to understand natural speech and contextual requests. AI can suggest destinations based on habits, react differently depending on the context, and even automatically adjust the air conditioning based on a passenger’s behavior or tone of voice.

Of course, the real Maybach experience is still found in the back seats. Automatic comfort doors open and close at the touch of a button, and the rear executive seats can be reclined like those in first class. The center console, which stretches between the two seats, hides silver-plated champagne glasses next to a refrigerated compartment designed to keep bottles at the ideal temperature. The two-separate seating configuration allows for a fixed console that also integrates wireless charging, touch-sensitive remotes and additional storage.

Electrified engines and raw V12 engine power
Maybach offers new electrified six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines, while the legendary V12 is still available in some markets. In the Maybach S 580, the revised 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine now develops 530 horsepower (395 kW), to which another 23 horsepower (17 kW) from the mild-hybrid system must be added.
The top of the range model, the S 680, retains its 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine that now delivers an impressive 621 horsepower. This is enough to push this sedan weighing almost two and a half tons to 100 km/h in exactly four seconds. Customers for whom raw power is not a priority can choose a plug-in hybrid version with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which can travel more than 60 miles on electricity alone. In addition to all of the above, the package is rounded off by almost endless possibilities for personalization through the MANUFAKTUR program.
