Another series about the life of Ana Sorokin will be filmed, it is produced by HBO. It is based on the book “My Friend Anna” published by Rachel LeLoache Williams, who was her friend, but since Anna Delvey aka Anna Sorokin borrowed $62,000 from Rachel to pay their stay at the luxury hotel in Morocco and never paid back. The friendship ended abruptly.
Simon & Schuster and HBO jointly paid Rachel Williams $110,000 for the book and its screenplay, with the possibility of earning at least $600,000.
For the uninformed, in Netflix series Inventing Anna, Anna Sorokin is a girl who, until a few years ago, presented herself as the heir to her father’s great fortune, then using the false identity of Anna Delvey. She lived a very high life by deception and intrigue, until it was revealed that she did not have any money, which caused damage worth as much as 200 thousand US dollars, and along the way damaged a person who thought he was her friend, Rachel DeLoache Williams, for as much as $62,000 when she promised to return the money she spent on their vacation in Morocco, of course, Rachel never saw that money.
Rachel was later credited with exposing and arresting Anna while she was in the rehab in California, and she was a key witness during the trial, in which Anna was sentenced to 12 years in prison, but only after three years in prison, she was released for good behavior. Rachel also released the book My Friend Anna last summer, which Shonda Rhimes, best known as the author of the famous Grey’s Anatomy series, used to write a biographical Inventing Anna mini-series for Netflix.
In Inventing Anna, a journalist who has a lot to prove is investigating the case of Ana Delvey, the legendary German Instagram heiress who stole the hearts of the New York social scene and stole their money. But is she Ana’s biggest cheater in New York or is she just a new representation of the American dream? Anna and the reporter create a dark, fun connection between love and hate as Ana awaits trial, and our reporter struggles with time to answer the biggest question in New York: Who is Anna Delvey? The series is inspired by a New York Magazine article, “How an ambitious ‘It’ girl cheated New York parties and their Banks,” by Jessica Pressler, who is also a producer.
As of this writing it is unknown the release date of My Friend Anna series, but should be released in early 2023. The same goes for the cast od this upcoming tv show. My guess Katie Lowes will play Rachel Williams and hopefully Julia Garner will play Anna Delvey since she did an amazing job in Inventing Anna series.
