Xiaomi has today added two models with AMOLED screens to its Poco line, a mid-range X-series with an improved camera and a 4G version of the Poco M4 Pro (however, there is a bigger difference than the modem itself). However, for now, we will only deal with the model POCO X4 Pro 5G
For this generation, the premium mid-range X-Series transitions to the AMOLED screen – the Poco X4 Pro 5G has a 6.67 ”panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels (20: 9). Like last year’s X3 Pro, this one has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, however, the touch sampling rate has been improved to 360 Hz (from 240 Hz). It is brighter to start, typical brightness up to 700 nits (with 450 nits) and maximum power of 1,200 nits. One thing that is not a direct upgrade is protection, the new phone uses Gorilla Glass 5 (instead of GG6).
In fact, this phone is not a direct upgrade to the X3 Pro. This one focuses on the screen, camera and battery, while other components like the chipset are without priority – the X4 Pro runs the Snapdragon 695.
This 6 nm chip is a continuation of the SD 690 with 15% higher CPU performance (thanks to two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2 GHz + 6x A55 at 1.8 GHz) and 30% higher GPU performance (Adreno 619). It’s an efficient chip, but it can’t be compared to the Snapdragon 860 that powered the X3 Pro, especially the GPU.
In any case, two configurations are available – 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB. This is a dual-SIM phone with a hybrid slot, which means you can add a microSD card if you don’t need another phone line. Virtual RAM is available on MIUI 13, which gives 2 GB more for the 6 GB model and 3 GB more for the 8 GB model. There is a sub-6 5G connection, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack (Hi-Res Audio certified), Bluetooth 5.1, IR blaster and NFC.
The camera on the new model has a significant improvement with a large 108 MP 1 / 1.56 ”sensor. That’s a big change from last year’s 48 MP 1 / 2.0 ”sensor. It is more suitable for shooting in low light with a 9-in-1 connection, which gives it effective pixels of 2.1 µm (lens aperture is f / 1.9).
The remaining cameras include an ultra-wide 8 MP (118 ° FoV, f / 2.2, seemingly unchanged) and a 2 MP macro camera (this time no depth sensor). The selfie camera has a 16 MP (f / 2.4) sensor, which is slightly less than the 20 MP (f / 2.2) camera on the X3 Pro.
The battery is also different. It is still quite large with 5,000 mAh (although it is 160 mAh less) and is now charged with twice the power – 67W (compared to 33W) with the adapter included in the package. A fully charged battery lasts for 15 hours of video playback. When discharged, the charger can return it to 70% in about 20 minutes, and full 100% charge is achieved in 41 minutes (X3 Pro took 59 minutes).
The dimensions of the phone are reduced and it has a thickness of 8.12 mm (less than 9.4 mm) and a weight of 205 g (less than 215 g). It still has IP53 for basic dust and water resistance, as well as dual speakers and a linear Z-axis motor.
The phone will be available in three colors: Laser Black, Laser Blue and the trademark Poco Yellow.
Release date and Cost
The Poco X4 Pro 5G will be available on March 2, 2022 with a suggested retail price of 6/128 GB for 300 euros or $330 USD. The 8/256 GB model has a suggested retail price of 350 euros or $390 USD, writes GSM Arena.
