Sony has created an air conditioner that you carry with you, just in time for the summer heat

Sony has introduced the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, an improved personal air conditioner that is worn and is primarily intended for users who want to bear the summer heat more easily. The device is worn under clothing, with an adjustable collar that places the cooling plate on the back of the neck, while sensors monitor the temperature of the skin and the environment to make work safe and comfortable.

Reon Pocket Pro Plus uses a cooling plate made of stainless steel, which rests on the body and lowers the temperature at the point of contact. Although the cooling is focused on the upper back and neck, the effect is felt more widely, because the body reacts faster to the temperature change in that zone. Sony states that the new version brings up to 20 percent better cooling, that is, a cooling plate that can be an additional 2 degrees Celsius cooler than before.

Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus cools the neck and back

The device has buttons for adjustment, but since it is worn behind the neck and under clothing, more convenient control is done via a phone app. Reon also uses the second-generation Pocket Tag, a small accessory that can be attached to a belt or bag. It measures the temperature and humidity of the air in the environment, so the device adjusts its work more precisely than if it only reads the conditions under the clothes.

The new model also brings an improved collar with a flexible support of a larger diameter, which should ensure a more stable wearing during walking and light activities. The hot air outlet can now be better directed, so that the air does not unnecessarily return to the clothes.

Reon Pocket Pro Plus is not completely invisible, because the thickening can be noticed under the thinner shirt, and the air vent slightly protrudes from the clothes. However, the idea is not for the device to be a fashion accessory, but a discreet solution for personal cooling without a manual fan.

Autonomy reaches up to 10 hours, but this data is valid for a slightly weaker operating mode, and not for maximum cooling. Sony has also built in an automatic shut-off to protect against overheating.

The advantage of this device is that it is not only useful in summer. During the winter, it can work in heating mode, so it can be used as a personal temperature regulator throughout the year. Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus is already available in the UK at a price of 199 pounds, while in Europe it costs 229 euros, reports Forbes.
