The 40-year-old classic with Robin Hood is back

The strategy game Defender of the Crown, which was played on old Amiga devices 40 years ago, will get its remastered and expanded edition.

If your gaming experience exceeds 35 years, you may remember the knight game Defender of the Crown from the old Amiga, later and other devices of the time. On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of that series, the original strategy game will get its remaster.

Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns brings us a modernized version in which we defend medieval England against the Normans. This includes building a military force, managing troops, warfare, holding knightly tournaments, etc. Diplomacy and consulting with different characters, including the legendary Robin Hood, play a key role in the game.

The remaster will bring improved graphics (although it will be possible to play with the original graphics from 1986), but will mostly remain faithful to the original as far as mechanics are concerned. However, it will exist completely novi Kingdom Mode which will bring roguelike elements, map-based army stacking and procedurally generated missions.

Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, and will be launched sometime during 2026
